Since the target audience is younger girls, they do not accept poems with themes related to dating, romance or fashion. For their contests they accept any type of poem, and they assess entries on the basis of originality and uniqueness. Submitted poems should be written in the first person and should tell about an incident that happened to you or someone you know. While other items should be submitted double-spaced, you can submit poetry entries to the Three Penney Review either double-spaced or singled spaced. Action, Spectacle is a biannual magazine based in Louisville, Kentucky, and Brooklyn. The magazine exists at the intersection of the socio-political, the cultural, and the arts—a public space for discussion and engagement.
Because we explore the meaning we find in artistic and everyday objects, we’re open to writing that incorporates spiritual elements. We welcome writers from all backgrounds to share their work with us. Most journals have quite a few sample poems on their website.

Please also note that, as a Canadian labour magazine, we generally prefer Canadian-based stories. The Ploughshares print and digital literary magazine is published by the staff at Emerson College. They accept poetry submissions of between one and five pages, and pay out a minimum of $45 for each accepted submission.
Please include a brief cover letter with your publication history AND where the poems you are submitting were first published. Phrases like “emerging poet” are helpful categorizations for publishers and journals, because many publications want to support new literary voices. Generally, an “emerging poet” is a poet who hasn’t yet published a full-length collection of poetry (48+ pages).

Literary companies usually have other guidelines as well for poetry submissions that should be carefully heeded in order to increase your chances of having your poetry accepted for publication.
Each issue features a theme related to a particular community of poets, such as teachers, or slam poets. They pay $200 per poem in print, and $100 for online contributors. All submissions are automatically considered for the annual $2,000 prize. We are inviting submissions for our newly started magazine ‘Fresh Words-An International Literary Magazine’. Rust+Moth– is open for submissions year-round and publish poems online as they accept them. Four times a year they gather the poems published on their site into collections, which are made available in print as well as online. They pride themselves on their quick turnaround time and they nominate for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net. All poets will be compensated for published poems. For text poems, we pay $10/line with a minimum honorarium of $300 per poem.
